Advice for Dervish please
I just joined the game recently and loving it!
unfortunately in pvp I can't figure out what kind of gear/weapon I should be aiming for. I've looked through the entire list of awards purchasable through faction points, but I'm wondering if there are any other sources for obtaining gear and weapons that would be good to know about.
Reason I ask is because it seems like there are some dervish in pvp that have about the power I would expect and then there are some that just slaughter you lol. So far the differences in the gear that I've found at the faction exchange don't account for the massive differences. Also I've looked through the skill lists entirely and there doesn't appear to be anything in there that could account for it either. I know skill sets make big differences, but the disparity i'm talking about isn't big, its freakin' huge lol.
Ty in advance for any help .

Gear isn't everything. In fact, it doesn't count for much at all. You're not going to get to "slaughtering" power with gear, you'll get there by picking the right skills and using them well.

The most important thing to do is to find a good bar. With Wounding Strike being the strongest elite by far, this build makes a good place to start.
With that being said, the following would be a reasonable starting point for dervish equipment:
Windwalker or Survivor Insignia on all armor pieces, depending on bar
Superior Vigor
Restoration
Clarity
Minor Scythe on helm
Minor Mysticism or Wind Prayers, depending on bar
Zealous Scythe of Fortitude with 15^50
Any staff with 20% enchanting
Spear of Fortitude with +5 energy, Shield of Fortitude with any +10 armor inscription

people are still joining this game?
but anyways,
dervish are not really used in pvp
go to www.pvxwiki.com to find your builds
use +armor over + health (fortitude)
http://www.teamquitter.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14392
also... dont get too attatched to one profession. most players play nearly all professions (i guess an exception would be most playres cant monk)

Wounding Strike Dervish is the only useful build, and all else is inferior by far. Additionally, WS is easily countered with extreme condition removals like Draw Conditions [Monks] or Foul Feast[Necros]. Also, Dervishes have almost no utility. Warriors have higher armor, and can interrupt, knock down, and can deal some massive damage. I'd recommend you use the warrior class instead of Dervishes.
